Lonely Ju Ju Doll finds New Home but Leaves Behind a Stray Black Cat

That's right...I'm upping the ante. Actually, I had a very hard time choosing a winner for my lonely Ju Ju. I am torn and feel bad to have to choose because everyone seems to deserve him/her.Most people seem to really be struggling right now (myself included). So I decided to give it the weekend to give people a chance to open their emails and post their comments. In the meantime, my lonely Ju Ju found a stray black cat charm doll hiding on the shelf. What a stroke of good luck for him! That means he will have a new home and since he's gotten good luck from the black cat, he will bring double the luck to his new home!

So who is the winner of my lonely Ju Ju Doll? You have to keep reading to find out...

In Western history, black cats have often been looked upon as a symbol of evil omens: in other cultures, they are considered to be good omens. Superstitions centering around the black cat are some of the most widely known and popular superstitions. For example, In Scotland, a strange black cat on your porch is a sign of upcoming prosperity. In Ireland, when a black cat crosses your path in the moonlight, it means there is going to be an epidemic illness. In Italy hundreds of years ago, it was believed that if a black cat lay on the bed of a sick person, that person would die. Many years ago in England, fishermen's wives kept black cats in their homes while their husbands went away to sea in their fishing boats. They believed that the black cats would prevent danger from occurring to their husbands while they were away. For all you kitty lovers, there's a whole lot of information about black cat folklore at the Mystic Voodoo; you can see a mummified Egyptian cat and learn all about infamous kitty deities and superstitions. You can even find a free download to Edgar Allen Poe's The Black Cat there. It's a short story but in true Poe fashion, I must warn you that it is a little creepy.

In New Orleans Voodoo, black cats have been the subject of controversial sacrifice in the past, particularly with regards to finding the one bone in the body that is all powerful. On that page at the Mystic Voodoo I was telling you about, you can find the actual Black Cat Bone Spell there, but I curse three times the person who tries to perform such a ritual. And you really don't want to be cursed by the Voodoo Mama...

The abuse of black cats for sacrificial and ritual reasons is no longer practiced nor encouraged in New Orleans. On the contrary, in the African American hoodoo tradition, black cats are considered to be good luck in matters of sports and gambling, particularly with card games and playing the lottery. The black cat mojo bag is filled with a number of luck-bringing roots and herbs, including John the Conqueror root, and adorned with a small black cat charm on the outside and carried on the person for good luck, especially when gambling.

Now, let me tell you a little more about this stray black kitty that is now up for adoption. This stray kitty is a one of a kind black cat charm doll. I will never make another one like her. I couldn't if I tried. She only has a bedazzled collar that is full of good luck charms and stones, but if you are the artsy type, you could add charms all over her body like I do to my other black cat charm dolls:

When I was making her, she only wanted her collar done. if you notice, she does have the seven magickal Voodoo pins for whiskers. If you want to adopt this kitty, use her as a focusing tool for creating the change you seek. Charm dolls are particularly useful for improving luck, happiness, financial situations, and spiritual protection. Would you like to adopt Lonely Ju Ju's stray kitty?

If so, write a comment below and give me your best, most persuasive argument. Oh, and by the way (I almost forgot in my efforts to find stray kitty a new home) that the winner for the Lucky Ju Ju Doll can be found here

Stray Kitty is awesome! I love that she has stars in her eyes. No wonder she only wanted the collar done... charms all over would have distracted from the gorgeous curve of her back! I think I can hear her enchanted purring right now. Love your work! I happened upon your blog while doing research... I'm designing a voodoo alien doll as a birthday gift for my son, who turned 22 today. :)

I don't know if this will reach you or not, but when I saw a lonely stray, I just had to write. My boyfriend is a post-Katrina transplant to Northern California. We struggled to move into what we thought would be a dream home only to find it has become more of a nightmare with a downstairs neighbor that calls the police at every noise, sprays us with her hose, and shines bright lights into my son's window. When we sought relief, we were told we were "newbies" and had to "put up with it." This is the same town where a man was arrested and fined for not being "properly attired" in a public park! We feel like strays here. We would welcome any strays into our home and I, particularly, would love to bring a piece of New Orleans into our lives for my homesick boyfriend. I love your work and what you do. Thank you

The little black cat is wonderful. Growing up I always had a black cat. Now that I am older perhaps it is time for another. This has been a bad year for me so far. Surgery in February led to the discovery of vulvar cancer. I get biopsy results on Monday to see if I am finally cancer free. Then I need to find a job to help pay the bills that have piled up. Perhaps the chat noir would be able to help?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the kitty! Almost two years ago my black cat companion of twelve years left this world in painful and difficult circumstances; I had to have him put to sleep due to kidney failure.

Another black kitty came into my life a little over a year ago, along with his mackerel sister, born in my hall cupboard.

My marriage broke down earlier this year, and I had to move out of my home with the magical hall cupboard where my babies were born. We don't have any children, the cats *are* our children. For months I had nowhere to live, now I am staying with friends, but my babies live with my ex until I move house again, because I can't have them where I'm staying. I visit them every week but we miss each other very much.

Even when I get my two little ones back, my eldest (six months older than the babies, same parents) will stay with my ex.

It sucks not having my babies around, and knowing that I am losing one of them for good, I miss them all sooo much. I would love to give the Ju Ju kitty a home, and she'd get along fine with my babies when they can live with me again ;)

Dear Voodoo Mama:
I will start of by telling you I have a roof over my head and a full belly. So I may not be the person that needs this adorable cat the most but I would love to have him in my home.
I live in the LA area and we are facing a huge problem with cats right now. People are losing their homes left and right and unfortunately some of these cats and kittens are losing their homes too. The shelters are at record numbers for putting cats down, more than they have ever faced. I pray, hope, and try to spread the word to people that have a little extra room in their homes to please save a life of a cat that is in desperate need.
The shelters have so many they are having a two for one special if you can believe that. I would love to have this beautiful cat you made in my home to spread good fortune to all cats and kittens out there.
Thanks,
Toni D.

Hello,

My name is Jeremieh and I'm a young conjuror around the age of 23 yr old, I ve been conjuroring and blessing people with my gifts since I was practically born. I would like to own or have given to me this juju doll because the voodou tradition has always intrigued me, I am also battling cancer and well as another chronic illness that id rather not talk about, this battle with cancer has changed my life and I need some help conjuroring healing and luck into my own life at this moment because of this weakening disease, the juju doll is so pretty and beautiful to me and is a expression of divine Spirits manifestation thru you on this earth, also the first person for which I ever harbored feelings of unconditional love for had such a name, it was juju, short. For julian which I think is such a powerful name. I would appreciate your consideration in this picking as I believe this juju doll may help heal me and attract the energies needed for me to change my life for the better, as well as help me to explore my talent of conjuroring to a degree that I might effect change on this earth as some one know as Jesus did. Through my faith I ran into your site, and by my faith I would hope that this juju doll would choose me as its new friend and home with me.

A long time ago I had a black named Tony he was quite a character one day we took him to the vet because he seemed a little down in the dumps it turned out that he had several tumors and we had to have him put to sleep I still miss Tony to this day. I believe that I could give the black charm cat as good and loving a home as Tony had

I love Stray Kitty. I wasn't going to comment but I can't help visiting the post and looking at her almost every day. She is such a special kitty full of gifts, I would love to give her sanctuary and a home full of love.

I have always been an attractant for cats, especially when I have been very sick. My companions seem to wander into my life when I need their protection and healing the most, the last when I had endo and was facing my 3rd surgery for it.

I also am struggling with chronic pain that makes it very difficult to practice on a regular basis since I try to be very careful about the energy I bring into it. I could really use a new kitty companion to help me focus and heal during the struggle through this period.

May Kitty find a good home, I know you will choose well.

Hi Just love the black cat it is superb you have done a great job i have studied hoodoo voodoo and know what is involved herb roots ect. I am a Psychic myself and have always looked at black cats as familiars especially to the witches gone by but even today when i do see them i know they have something to tell me, and funny enough when i looked at the cat you made i really did feel a connection that this cat would love to work with me. it is a sort of calling, this cat also told me that i needed to add some more items depending on what i was going to use it for ( if i was lucky enough to win it of course ) the items were more of roots, barks, herbs and oils than charms but i feel five finger grass and bayberry would be good.
I have also had my share of problems you normally find that when your a healer and psychic my wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer about 2 years ago and my son has liver disease he is 16 years old. when my wife came home after her treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy she kept falling in the street her legs just collapsed this went on for some time until i decided i needed to help her using spiritual surgery after repairing some leaks and tears in the auric field first after only 2 sessions of the surgery she has never had anothe fall! so why am i telling you all this well you might not believe this but while i was doing this surgery work i looked up to the window and outside on the windowsill sat a black cat watching what was going on!! maybe the healing power came from this cat? since then i have always looked at black cats as a gateway between our world and the spirit realms. I do hope i win the doll but if not then congratulations to the lucky winner mannaz psychic consultant Ph.D mannaz2@btinternet.com

How could you not love a little black cat. Well to begin with I am a cat. I have been graced with the company of 3 cats who adopted me as their caregiver. I have been collecting unusual and one of a kind cats for several years now. They have to talk to me to get me to take them home. I would give your little beauty a wonder loving home. But like all things, I would only want her to come to me if she wants to. I would never force a feline to my will, I bow to theirs. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi, I'm Teleri. I've only been involved with the Lwa a short time, although they came into my life many years go. I would really appreciate having the opportunity to give your kitty charm a home..

I need her to stand in for the companionship of a real cat, since I am in an apartment that makes it prohibitively expensive to keep pets. I also would keep her as a talisman of remembrance for my real-life, beloved black kitty, Kiki, who passed on earlier this year. I would call the charm Kiki, and keep it with my ancestor photos and keepsakes, together with a photo of me with Kiki in her last days.

And who knows, perhaps your little lost kitty can bring enough prosperity into the house that i can someday afford a real kitty to love once again!

IS THIS ONE HELL OF A COINCIDENCE OR WHAT... let me start at the beginning, this past year there's been a large number of cats strolling and passing by my house. when i'm outside, they'll stop and stand by me, not to close but, they'll just stop, look at me.. yawn and just relax there with me, then they'll just walk off. it happens so much, at first i thought it was just, you know what cats do.. and then one night, around 12 midnight, i'm getting ready for bed, i shut off all the lights, get into bed then.. i hear a crying kinda like a baby, but it was strained, kinda howlish too, it stops so i think nothing of it, then it gets louder, but this time it sounds like there's more than one, i say to myself "oh it must be the cats".. a bunch of cats are lined up out side my window, for a min and half they howl.. it sounded like a bunch of angry babies, i get up run to the kitchen so i can see them, all lined up, i had chills running up and down my spine, i call to my sister and ask her if she hears them, she was scared too lol, i turn on the lights, then they stop, i go back to the window, they look at me, they look around, then they just walk off. that was the only time they ever done that, and it was like 5 or so months ago when that happened. since then my curiosity has grown deeply about cats, they act like they're human lol.. iv'e wanted to get a cat, but my moms is scared to death of them, my sister is too, i would love to be the one you give the stray black cat to, it would find a very warm and wonderously loving home with me. i need a companion to assist me as i start doing some rituals, and that nebulously intriguing cat would definitely put me in the right state of mind to do wonders.. thank you for your time and consideration voodoo mama. x0x0
