Lonely Voodoo Ju Ju Doll Seeks New Home

Here he is, or she is, you can decide the gender. One lonely Ju Ju doll who wasn't claimed last month. I still can't believe it. Ju Jus are nothing but good luck, and they are an heirloom too.

Usually, these dolls are adorned only on one side. This one is adorned on both sides. However, there is still room for you to add your own charms and what-nots if you would like. Here is a picture of my lonely Ju Ju's backside:

I have written before about Ju Jus and charm dolls. The reason I am posting this particular doll is because no one claimed it as the winner of the free Voodoo doll contest last month. But, in case you are interested in what Ju Ju dolls are all about, I have posted an excerpt from my book Voodoo Dolls in Magick and Ritual below.

Ju Ju Dolls

Ju Ju dolls are a commonly sought for their good luck and protection properties. The term "ju ju" refers to an object, in this case a doll, that has been blessed and functions to keep evil and negativity away. Sometimes Ju Ju dolls are referred to as guardians because they are used to protect the home from negativity. Other popular ju jus in New Orleans include talismans made of alligator heads and chicken feet. Ju Ju dolls are usually created as poppets, then adorned with colorful yarn, good luck charms, and gris gris bags filled with magickal items to bring positive blessings to their possessor. Ju Ju dolls can be hung above the doorway in your home to keep away evil and negative energy.

Sometimes, ju ju dolls are made in the form of familiars, such as the black cat, one of the most powerful animals in the Voodoo tradition. In the New Orleans Voodoo hoodoo tradition, black cats are considered to be good luck in matters of sports and gambling, particularly with card games and playing the lottery. Black Cat mojo bags are filled with a number of luck-bringing roots and herbs, including John the Conqueror root, and adorned with a small black cat charm on the outside and carried on the person for good luck. Black cat ju ju dolls are adorned with good luck charms and charms that carry a gambling theme, such as tiny dice and playing cards.

If you would like to adopt this wonderful Ju Ju Doll that I am so graciously willing to give as the free Voodoo doll of the month, leave your comment below and by Friday evening I will choose a winner from the responses. If you have not signed up for the contest yet, you can do so by visiting Free Voodoo Doll Contest at Planet Voodoo.

Good luck and laissez bon ton roulet! (let the good times roll!)

I collect and create art dolls and pin-dolls....lonely ju-ju would be at home with all my other lovelies...the following poem is mine....

Pin-Doll

I am a small, simple pin-doll,
sojourner on the path of needles
and the path of pins.
I am Ridinghood.
The wolf said I must choose from the two,
motherhood and pins,
the needle path of freedom.
But I have not chosen and
traveled with two maps, practicing invisibility,
mastering bilocation, stitching a prayer into each lace.
I am the magick grandma of the forest,
wise woman, crone, keeper of herbs
and incantations. I live in a hut with two doors,
where gypsy daughters may entertain lovers.
Embracing all between the swaddling and the shroud,
I wash the newborn, and wash the dead.
Pins will pick up pieces of all they contact.
I am a full, ripe, scarlet poppet,
a small, simple pin-doll.

I believe he is a fantastic boy, armed and charmed to the teeth so he may present to the world with vigor and direction, not vulnerability and indecision. His presence would be most welcome here. Incredibly good work. Thank you.

Honestly, this seems like what I need in my life right now (and forever afterwards). I have been experiencing a lot of problems in my life over the past few years from conspiracy against my life to being forced to resign from my previous job. Unfortunately, the negativity and problmes seem to follow me everywhere I go. I have tried meditation, tried to appease the spirits, and I have even gone to therapy which now I use medication to keep the evil voices out of my head. I am almost at the end and I have no idea what to do next. I honestly believe that the Ju Ju doll can help me relieve at least some of the negativity or perhaps help me in finding away to face whatever problem it is that stored in my subconscious. I hope I can get this because I don't know what will happen to me next.

May Love and Peace always guide you, Corey S.

Voodoo Mama, I'm a single mama, with the crazies. My son is my heart, and my inspiration. I'm starting over on my own now, and sometimes the challenges get me down, but I don't lose hope.

I work a little of my own mojo when I can, afford both the time and the tools which seems to smooth some of the patches, so I know that voodun works, it's a beautiful tradition that comes from a beautiful people.

My son is part Haitian, and me, I'm a child of the water people. So it's in our blood. I can sincerely say that JuJu's mojo and love would be so appreciated here.

We've got some really great opportunities to advance our life coming around the corner, and maybe, together we and JuJu can both come out winners!

Cheers and Blessings

This beautiful treasure would be right at home with me. Ever since I was a child and played in my Grandfathers dry cleaning business I have had a fascination with buttons. The seamstress that worked there, her name was Grace, used to let me rummage through her spare buttons box. She had so many pretty buttons! It was like finding a treasure chest! She let me keep many of the buttons and I still have most of them today. I would love to have this ju-ju doll to add to my memory of that time in my life. Thank you for sharing it.

This Ju Ju is a beautiful work of art!
We are experiencing a very expensive run of bad luck in my home. This Ju Ju would be my first, and very much needed and be very well taken care of! I already have the perfect place picked out for him!

I would love to have that beautiful doll, so that maybe, just maybe my luck will turn around. I've always felt that my life is like that line in a song..."if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all". I'm living, but I'm not alive. Please help me, thank you.

Hello Hello there...I am a lonely soul that is trying the best to recover from a tremendous amount of loss, and would love to adopt this lonely charmed ju ju doll. I hope the best I can that I am on the upswing, but still have a long dark road ahead of me, so I could really use the extra help in lighting my path - I fear of falling as I have no one to help me back up. I have two ju ju cat charm dolls from the same maker, and several more that I put together on my own. They are all wonderful but all self attained - never has one been 'given' to me so perhaps that is the luck and affirmation that will help me into the light. The charmed ju ju will no longer be lonely, will sit upon my alter of watching cats, and will receive many shiny little charming presents!

I'd love this little JuJu doll
A nestling in my home
The JuJu doll would smile all day
And never be alone.

He'd watch my home in daylight
He'd watch my home at night
So all the things that creep and groan
Won't give me such a fright.

This JuJu doll would love me
As much as i'd love him
For we both know he's much to nice
to get stuck with a pin!

I have the most horrendous 7 years of bad luck - going from having all that I wanted in life to having nothing at all. For various reasons, I lost my job, my home, most of my family and of course all of my money.I am at a stage in life when I should be retiring without a care in the world, but now I have so many.
I have moved to another part of my country, thinking a new start would find me at least a job. After 8 months of searching, I am still not working.
I would welcome Lonely Voodoo Ju Ju to my heart and home, maybe we could do each other a good turn.

This Ju-ju doll would be perfect for my mother. She used to have a ju-ju doll when she was younger that was passed down to her. Too bad it was destroyed in a hurricane. This would be perfect for her because as you said we never found another authentic ju-ju doll and honestly we dont have $50.00 to buy this one. I even showed her a picture of it and she loved it. I wish she could have this one to make her smile. She would love it and pass it on to future generations so that the tradition never does die. And now we have a safe box to protect it from hurricanes. (she grew up in poverty and couldn't afford a safe box to protect the last one)

I would love to adopt your Ju-Ju doll because then the fellow I'm making wouldn't be all alone in the world! I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing either so, having an original from the Voodoomama would just be fabulous inspiration. These dolls are so fascinating and unique... one of a kind treasures. After working on my fellow for two days I really appreciate all the time and effort that goes into creating these magical little critters. They are certainly frisky and lots of fun.

Your lonely Ju Ju doll would be lonely no more if he found a home here with me. I have recently moved into a new apartment with my fiance, and while things are going well for the most part, the need for good juju is quite great in order to keep this a good home for me and my fiance, to keep money in our bank accounts to pay the bills and to keep undesirable visitors (earthly or unearthly) from coming around. Please consider me, I believe the doll was meant to come my way.

I would love to talk about a trade too :)

I have never owned a voodoo doll. It would be really exciting and really useful. Having something so beautiful and with so much history. I may not practice voodoo, but I do love and respect it's culture. The fact it has survived all these years is a miracle in itself, and I see it as a very spiritual religion. I just love little ju ju! What ju ju symbolizes and what effort it must have taken to create such a beautiful symbol. I would love to finally have a voodoo doll of my own and take very good care of ju ju. Prosperity and good luck ofcourse is a blessing and using it wisely is what I'll do. I want to be a musician, actress, dancer, artist. I also am going to college and taking holistic health. I have always been interest in it and I love natural health. The greatest thing about it is I will be able to help heal others along the way. Celebrities always use their status to help others and that is what I am going to do. I want to be a part of greenpeace, peta, peacecorps, redcross, salvation army, habitat for humanity, etc. I want to use my status to help others in different countries (especially children) who are sick and do not have the unlimited education and healthcare that we have is this country. I would definately use the prosperity and wealth I would be blessed with from little ju ju to help others. Why not spread the wealth? It also spreads joy and love to one another. Ofcourse little ju ju will be well taken care of and not be lonely. I will definately create some friends for ju ju to be with ;)! Thank you very much for reading my comment and blessings to you and to ju ju!

Dear Voodoomama:
I am very interested in winning the Voodoo Ju Ju Doll. I recently stumbled upon your site and have been hooked since. I find all the history and knowledge on your site fascinating. You have inspired me since to make my own Voodoo Doll. I did not make the doll according to any special god, but had a blast making it. I collected sticks from my park, and wrapped it in Spanish moss. Made a beautiful outfit and dressed her in jewels. I am very happy with the way she turned out, but feel I have much more work to improve. I want to thank you for keeping the tradition alive and inspiring me to be creative. During tough times I think about what doll I might make next and that really gets me through the day.
Thanks ToniD.

I should have this lonely ju ju to go with Mama's other lonely creation I got when she only had one left of a rope doll. I was very glad to get him at the price I paid. The economic downturn has hit us particularly hard, not that we were wealthy before. My 69 year old hubby who was on disability since 1994 went out and got a part time job, while I work full time. Anyway ju ju would keep my rope doll company. I have him facing my front door on the wall. One day my hubby calls me at work and says that creature on the wall just jumped off at me, a statement which is yall must admit open to interpretation. I was like ok what creature and he said that clothesline with the feathers and beads. Now this is the same man who helped me set up a crossroad in the backyard to try to overcome an injury that took away his guitar playing, so it is not like he is afraid. He was ready to meet head on. So Im like ok, well pick him up gently and be careful who you open the door to. He said I am not touching it. I said please pick him up. He says it jumped at me. I was like well what were you thinking. Long story short, after much assurance that it would not jump at him during Gunsmoke again, (I hoped), he did pick him up and lay him gently on the coffee table. So now if I had juju then they could keep each other company and when bored not jump off the wall at the poor man..or else do it one at a time and let me watch..hmm, that was bad, right ?
Ju ju would have a wonderful home with us in South Carolina. I just cant believe someone left him all alone..or else left him just for me.

Greetings! I just discovered your site a couple weeks ago. Its great, i love it! Just what ive longed for! Ive always had an interest but never knew anything.

I really liked the 150 spells. I tried making my first two dolls, ever, due to some evil doer. I didnt deserve what took place so this helped ease my conscience. I read after, possessing revenge theres always going to be a consequence. Im pretty easy going but with this circumstance this individual deserved exactly what he thought he could dish out. What goes around comes around. And i also posted to different individuals in my past & present a prayer that i found when i came across your site. Its a prayer to cast out evil spells. The following Saturday i had a HELL night. I didnt want to think that it was from learning this new material or the prayer or the dolls i created. I will look at it as everything happens for a reason ~ Good & Bad.

I would love to adopt Ju Ju & have her/him live with me in my home. Ive been needing to rid the negativity that has surrounded me for quite sometime but was uncertain how to go about it. I love cats & i would take Mojo everywhere with me & love my pet!

I sure would have a good home for Ju Ju and her good fortune as i miss not having a cat in my life! {Smiles} And thank-you for all the wonderful learning material!

Blessings;

A long time ago I had a black named Tony he was quite a character one day we took him to the vet because he seemed a little down in the dumps it turned out that he had several tumors and we had to have him put to sleep I still miss Tony to this day. I believe that I could give the black charm cat as good and loving a home as Tony had

I play the lottery faithfully but have had no luck and have looked into voodoo dolls for their help, however have none. I owe so much in student loans i am literally drowning! We are talking 6 figures! I am hoping this little kitty can give me the luck i need to finally get a win and pay off these bothersome loans and also help others in need.

I've had a lot of bad fortune, and evil working done against me by jealous and spiteful people. I'm finally beginning to see a bit of good fortune around me.

I would like to have that particular JuJu doll as a companion to protect me where ever I go. It calls to me as the perfect companion to travel in my purse and in my car.
